What is Virtual Support Services?

Think of Us’ Virtual Support Services (VSS) helps young people, caregivers, and families connect to resources and support more quickly. Through VSS, young people and caregivers can identify needs across areas such as financial assistance, housing, food, education, mental health, legal support, employment, and more — and receive personalized support from Community Responders who do the heavy lifting alongside them by helping navigate options, complete applications, coordinate referrals, and follow up throughout the process.VSS is designed to reduce barriers to support and make it easier for young people and families to access the resources and services they need, when they need them. In California, VSS serves as the California Kinship Navigator (CKN) Program, supporting kinship caregivers and young people.

“When young people and caregivers reach out for support, they are often navigating urgent needs and complicated systems at the same time — and they should not be left to navigate those challenges alone. Virtual Support Services helps reduce that burden by pairing them with Community Responders who do the heavy lifting alongside them, helping turn needs into real connections to support.”

Whitney Robertson
Senior Director, Programs

"Our work at Think of Us is about meeting youth and caregivers where they are and helping them navigate systems that often feel overwhelming and inaccessible. By centering lived experience, providing real-time support, and connecting families to critical resources, we help build stability, ensure they feel seen, and create dignity and long-term impact in the community."
