Think of Us is a national systems change organization transforming the foster care system into a child and family well-being system. Our resources are organized around four strategic priorities: PREVENT unnecessary entries into care, PRIORITIZE kinship and family connections, PREPARE young people for adulthood, and PROGRESS toward a modern system. Each is designed to shift how the over $30 billion spent annually on child welfare in the United States actually reaches children and families.
In 2023, Think of Us secured $47.5 million through The Audacious Project to accelerate this work over five years. That investment, alongside continued support from longstanding child welfare funders, reflects confidence in our approach: centering lived experience, leveraging data and technology, and partnering directly with states to implement what works.
Currently we are seeing strong financial growth balanced between 42% earned revenue (via state government contracts, interest income, and fiscal sponsorship fees) and 58% contributed revenue (from individual donors, private philanthropists, and foundations).
